First Velvet

Every year I look forward to seeing that first group of bachelor bucks starting to develop some head gear and this year was a nice surprise. It was mid May, time to get out the trail cams out and freshen-up the mineral licks. A short drive and a nice hike later, the task was done and I was on my way home. It was getting close to dusk and the air was cool as I glanced into a small field along the road and there they were. The first velvet nubs of the season. Maybe a little more than nubs, the group of 5 Bucks were nearly all as tall as their ears and growing right on track!
